For the painting of the structure, we will cover the inside with 1 coat of primer (Caitlin's momma has donated a gallon of primer so a big thank you to her!), and we will also have 1 - 2 coats of white paint in an eggshell finish. We will most likely only need 1 gallon of this, which we still need to purchase. As far as the exterior of the structure, right now it will be left unfinished unless more of you rally to have it painted a color.
Later we had a meeting with Richard Brooks, Eric, and Simone to go over the installation details. Here is a review of what we covered:
We will have 3 official installation days, however this is flexible and we can extend it longer if we need the time. We need to stress that safety comes first and we must take our time to do a good and safe job.
We can start installing as early as Tuesday, and Illya will be there to supervise around 4pm.
When we are working in the gallery, we will need staff supervision. The exhibition staff leaves at 6pm, so if we are planning on working into the night, we need to set up another supervisor accordingly.
When we are there, we need to respect the storage space and keep everything organized, as Eric goes to great lengths to keep everything in order. There are about 2 -3 screw guns, paint rollers, a hanging kit, and other various items that we can use. Since there is a limited amount of items like screw guns, it would be ideal for us to bring our own tools.
As far as the removal process, we will only have 1 day to get everything out. This will happen on Monday, April 13th bright and early at 8am. It is critical to do this as quickly as possible, and we will need to set up 3 shifts - morning, afternoon, and evening - to get everyone to participate. If push comes to shove and we need a little extra time, we can use the first half of Tuesday to continue dissembling. However, everything MUST be out of the gallery by mid-day Tuesday. I believe the plan is to dissemble the pieces and have them delivered to the sculpture building, so that they can be recycled and reused.
That pretty much covers everything for now. Keep up the great work everyone - we're almost there!
